I AM TYPE B
Let me get real for a second. I used to think something was wrong with me. I would see these organized, task oriented, driven “go getters”, and I didn’t understand why I wasn’t like them. I would try really hard to appear to be a type A and let me tell you… that’s exhausting. Don’t pretend. It’s just not worth it. If you’re pretending and succeeding, hats off to you! It’s taken me a LONG time to realize that it’s ok to be Type B. We work hard, but we just work a little different. I was so insecure (still can be if we’re being real) with my Type B-ness. Organization, tidiness, and that “type A drive” are just not in my DNA. AND THAT IS OKAY. I call it organized chaos.
So now for my fun fact(s)…
Ways I’ve tried to be Type A:
- Buy a planner to organize the day to day tasks. A Planner? What’s that and what is its purpose? I’ve bought several over the years in hopes to get “organized”, but they end up under some sort of stack on my desk or better yet blank. Planners are SO cute, and I always hope I’ll spark a new desire to keep up with my life, but that just never works.
- Create task reminders. That stressed me out just typing that. I downloaded an app once in hopes to set tasks and reminders on my phone. That lasted less than 24 hours.
- Organize my closet by colors/style/etc. I tried this once, actually my best friend Jenna came to my house and did this about 8 months ago. I have not let her back in my room since because she would be mortified at the unorganized clothes hanging in my closet.
- Assigning chores to specific days of the week. HAHAHAHAHA. I just laughed out loud remembering the time I tried to do this. Man. What a joke. Those of you who do this: kudos to you! I just can’t.
- Meal planning BEFORE going to the grocery store. Once again, tried that. I work better without a plan. Sometimes I make a list on my phone, but that is rare. I usually just walk in to Wal-Mart and think about what meals I (we) want to eat that week. It’s probably more expensive that way, but God’s been good and we haven’t missed a meal! HA
Here’s what I’ve decided:
– This world needs the B’s to balance out the A’s.
– Type A friends are very important to have. You make them laugh, and they make you appear organized.
– It’s not like Type A is better than Type B…they’re just different!
– Accept my personality. After all…it’s me!
I’m embracing Everyday (Type B) Ellie.
*Side Note: I can’t wait for all you type A people to read this and stress out trying to understand how I function everyday.
